The weather here has been crap for weeks. There's been over a foot of rain since Christmas and wind gusting at 70-80 kmh every day for over two weeks. It's not supposed to calm down for at least another week.Skub wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 4:38 pmI was stopped talking to the chap that owns the holiday cottages and he said to me,"that's not gonna blow over,is it"? I skipped going out with the Spanish lot this morning, they were heading up towards a place called Alpera to meet with a few blokes from Albacete. There's some cracking roads on the way, in the end only one bloke went from here and he took the motorway because of ice on the minor roads.
I did go for a spin this afternoon, but it's not nice in the wind, it had warmed to just over 20⁰ though. The OEM tyres on the KTM are Michelin GP's and they've been sliding around to the point of feeling decidedly dangerous. I think they just don't like cold, damp tarmac, they had plenty of grip this afternoon.

Nothing to do this morning, the wind had dropped and the roads are dry so I thought I'd ride over to the Oasis Lagoon Park for breakfast. It's a nice loop, about 40 minutes each way on very scenic roads with nowhere to stop for pictures.

It was empty.

It's citrus season, I suppose I could have chosen a better lemon tree.

There's almond trees that grow on the side of the road, they blossom a couple of weeks before the cultivated trees.

Some cultivated trees on the track to my house.

A view looking back down the track, it's about a kilometer from the road to my house.

Great to see some blue sky. I'm beginning to forget it ever happens here.

Riding in the rain could be any day of late.

Another 100 monkey miles this morning. No rain but very wet roads with plenty of pop up fords.
Foggy over Clee Hill, dirty bike but nice getting out, not many about.

Was spring like here in Congleton. Managed to get out for a quick blast to test my new helmet and heated vest as the sun came out and the roads were 95% dry. Heated vest was a game changer. Sorry, no photo(s).

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
80 more monkey miles today, drizzle, mud and potholes, what else could you possibly want.
Pretty much all back lanes, mils first to lift a sack of bird seed out of mrs D car then on to Ironbridge for a pork pie and a pasty and tea, they've got a little cover so was out of the weather, not many about.
Then just followed my nose and meanded over to Shrewsbury and a pic outside of football ground. Very enjoyable just fannying around going wtf i want. Life in the slow lane is very underrated and with the state of our roads it's a bit more suitable.
Bike is plastered in crap again, will wash tomorrow, it's pissing down outside now.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
I just get rigged up now with all the dirty gear that lives in the garage, everything covered in crap just gets hung back up again, no drying or cleaning required. Bike will get cleaned tomorrow though, in readiness for getting covered in shite again.
Saturday supposed to be sunny but cold, but that means the shitter gritters will be out.
Oh yeah...
Over 300 miles done now and that's the go steady miles out of the way.
First service at 600 which is £120. Looking at service schedule it's oil change only at 600 then every 4k. Filter every 8k. I'll get first one done then DIY.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
After a hard frost it was a lovely winters blue sky day earlier, this afternoon it started to cloud over,again...
Seeing as it got to a toasty +4 I took the Suzuki for a spin.

The bike's minging but the rear shock's still clean unlike the rest of the bike so the hugger's doing it's job

Any ideas on what's the best coating for the rear axle slider? The rest of the bike may be covered in mud but there's very little rust elsewhere

I thought about it but ended up having a walk instead, however, my app reckons we've got more sun next week. Not the most accurate app mind.
