There's history here too.

Australian wild life vs. Armed resistance? Don't bet on the humans mate.

I'm not convinced this is an actual fact but it made me smile when I read it and wonder if it really is.

Austin Allegros are more aerodynamically efficient in reverse than they are going forwards.

That is true for many cars before hairy dynamics was understood....on a similar note (vaguely), did you know a messerscmidt kr200 will go pretty well as fast in reverse as forward?

The Messerschmidt had a 200 cc Sachs two stroke. T reverse, you stop the engine, push the key in, and restart...in reverse...hence 4 reverse gears...bit tricky over 20 mph......

A mate had a 3 wheeler Berkeley (like a small Reliant van) , with a 250 Villiers engine.

Slowing for junctions, it would occasionally backfire and start running (badly) 'backwards'. Apparently entertaining* if you tried to drive away.

* For onlookers

Ever wondered where the term 'squid' for a certain type of rider originated?

Nope, me neither.

But this popped up today:

.. "squids," so named because when you wear just a helmet and you’ve got a bunch of unprotected fleshy parts dangling underneath, you look a bit like a sea creature.

My dad had a Daf Variomatic. He loved it

But I think he was the only one who did!

We had 2, my grandfather was Dutch and had them as runarounds before I was born. My Dad used them as commuter vehicles (drive 2 miles to the train station and back daily) IIRC we had a 44 saloon and a 55 Coupe. The first car I used as "my car" after passing my test was the 55.

If there are more than 7 people seated at the table, you're not supposed to wait for everyone to get served before starting !?

Eh !! I would expect the serving staff to be a bit better trained
Just googled it - apparently a modern etiquette thing

Out with mates a few weeks ago. 7 or 8 mains ordered.

Slowly, two at a time, plates brought out. Manners or not, those served first started eating. Finally all out - two not cooked properly, raw meat. And one of the others was unpleasant.

Somehow don't think that 'chef' will be there much longer ...

Most criminals have an IQ between 80 and 90. That’s the sweet spot. If you’re any smarter, you realize crime’s not worth the risk, and if you’re any dumber, you’re too stupid to plan a lot of crimes.

Most or 'average'? [eg mean mode median]

Well, one average often quoted (not sure if it's mean, mode or median) is for the US police. 104.

Since that's an average we can safely assume there's an overlap with the 'opposing team'. :D
