Royal Mail are supposed to collect our weekly water samples that are sent off for testing, often fail to collect and when they do manage that they fail to deliver by the next day which means samples need re-doing!

I'm working a lot and the missus isn't so natch' she does the majority of the crappy chores.
So today she goes off to get some tyres fitted to one of the cars - every time almost without exception fecking tyre fitters try to rip her off.

Last time some 18yo yoof told her the car was unfit to drive (it had passed its MOT / CT literally days earlier). "It's a deathtrap" he said. I went back with her and he couldn't point out anything that was at fault. It was so hilarious I laughed. No apology. For context that is about 5 years ago now, the deathtrap is still going.

I dunno why the industry is so full of fools and swindlers, but I do know they wouldn't try it on with me, so they're definitely cowardly misogynists as well as d!ckheads. There must be a market for tyre-fitters & garages run by women where the customers wouldn't have to suffer all this nonsense.

2026 and we're still having this conversation. or  ?

Mrs. G runs her own company doing data cabling and suchlike. She's forever telling me stories of turning up on site to do a survey and have the site manager asking 'when's the bloke coming to do the survey, luv?' or something along those lines She soon puts 'em right. :D

Maybe it wasn't a death trap, but he knew the car belonged to DefTrap. :silent:

I agree though, opportunists are everywhere trying to skim wherever they think they can get away with it. Home heating fuel suppliers with plenty of reserves booting 900l up to a grand just because they can,is another good example.
I used to get the elderly lady next door to route workmen through me before she paid out. Soft target,a vulnerable female living alone. How the fuckers sleep at night,I don't know.

And another thing - I get an online quote from yet another tyre place and forward it, so that she can go fully armed with the information. "Oh no, we don't honour the online quotes because we're a franchise". :shifty: So hilariously the actual price is close to double.
So this is either dreadfully shifty advertising or, again, trying to pull a fast one.

And they wonder why people use "Black Circles" to order new tyres. Not found a local repair shop that comes close to their prices.

Yup - 30 odd years ago I was a pub manager, for a brewery, but it was my name over the door.

One day a bloke walks in before opening time and introduces himself as a rep for somewhere (obviously hadn't done his homework as it's a brewery pub so the managers can't just deal with reps )

Anyway, conversation went a bit like this -

me - how can I help?

SmarmyMysoginisticFukker - Hi, I'm the rep for X and I'd like to talk to the manager

me - ok, that's me, but . .

SmarmyMysoginisticFukker - (cutting me off) - no I'd like to speak to your husband

me - don't have one of those

SmarmyMysoginisticFukker - well, your partner

me - don't have one of those

SmarmyMysoginisticFukker - the man of the house?

me - definitely not one of those!!

SmarmyMysoginisticFukker - oh, can I speak with the licensee ?

me - follow me : I led him out of the bar, outside and turned to look at the front door : see that name over the door?

SmarmyMysoginisticFukker - ah

me - as I said when you asked to speak with the manager, that's me

SmarmyMysoginisticFukker - oh great, can we chat about : cut him off

me - nope, get lost :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Still have issues like that but now I live here and it's like the uk 15-20 years ago, not as bad as when I was running the pub, but definitely not as far advanced as you'd like to think

oh, and I got royally stitched up by a garage here - stupidly I admitted to being on my own and yup, paid for that by thousands and thousands !!!!

We get this a lot at work. I'm a geez, obvs, but my line manager and director are women. When we have a meeting with IT, they always address me. We also had it at the hospital where the Doctor would only talk to me and blanked my wife and sister. The common denominator in these instances is that they are all Asians, so I guess it's a cultural thing?

AI replies to my emails, a very short reply or none at all would be far better than the long sycophantic AI replies repeating what I said.

I'm must be lucky then. There's a lad runs a tyre fitting place in our village who consistently supplies tyres within a tenner of Black Circles prices

Some cunt has poisoned my dog. Vet thinks drugs and likely culprit cannabis. Only time i seen her eating anything outside was in my garden, head under the hedge and back out eating something. Nothing to unusual in that as she is partial to a cat shit but it it looks like some kids may have had a stash place under my hedge as the other side is a foot path to the secondary school. £401 tonight's treatment and she is back on a drip as they want to put in another counter react flushing type stuff to the drugs.

There's a shit load of profit in tyres

When I was instructing on track, the punters were paying £170 ish for rear track tyres.

We got them subsidised for £90 including fitting.

Definitely not only Aisans! It's just you've only witnessed it when it's that culture

The French are massively patriarchal, chauvanist, mysogingist etc - add in racist !!

But I found the same with Brits and still did up until I moved here, so it isn't just incomers!

We must have caught it early last night. We had to give her two large syringes full of a charcoal solution. This came with a warning that is could whoosh back out and either or both ends. Last night apart from the off fart she was fine. This morning she was neither up nor down and had a proper poop apart from being black with the charcoal, Back to the vet thinking she was going back on the drip but they were impressed on how she bounced back. Checked the vitals and came away a total of 477 quid lighter  At least the dug is fine.

Funny as my insurance renews came in last night also. Due to the eye operations a couple of month back my £34 a month policy is now £77 this year
