They spend more time spraying yellow paint than they do fixing anything. Some of the roads are atrocious in places.

Yesterday was too good an opportunity to pass up, so after an early morning meeting with India, I booked a days leave to head out for the 1st time this year.

We got out for our first run to Dunsop Bridge this year.Lovely sunny day but it became apparent on some of the inclines around Pleasington that the Gritters had been out...

Image

My new Shoei Neotec is still to tight,I'm hoping it'll loosen up a little bit

Image

We called in at Inch Perfect trials https://inchperfecttrials.co.uk/
One of my mates used to take his sons there & one of our other mates had a enjoyable day out there last year.As I don't bounce as well as I used to I've given up mountain biking,so I'm not sure a day on a trials bike would be a good idea...
Yesterday I decided to try out my tubelesss repair kit on a old tyre in the garage, everything worked as it should, always good to know

Met the amigos this morning and rode a couple of hours to a place called Ayna. We normally go out on a Thursday but yesterday was a bank holiday, 17 degrees and sunshine. Today, thick cloud, 7 degrees in the mountains and damp roads from the mist. It's a trip I had planned to do on a nice day, not freezing my nuts off.

For that you want a place called Tabernas, it's a good three hours south of here, more if you take the nice roads. When it's warmer I'll do an overnight trip there.

Nice ride out today. Went out early and it paid off with little traffic until around midday. Out to Denbigh, then a little bit of the EVO triangle, then onto Betws-y-Coed, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Bala, Llangollen, then home, 230 miles all in.

A fine day out with the classic boys. The first run of the year and the weather was great, especially for March.

Last Autumn I fitted some aftermarket Chinesium adjustable levers to my Street Triple, they look better than the OE non adjustable versions but I was never happy with the action of the clutch lever,so this morning I adjusted it & went for a spin.
From late Autumn to Spring there's thousands of geese & swans on these fields, none today,a sure sign Spring's springing

Image

I still wasn't happy with clutch action so I did some roadside adjustments & got the clutch biting just where I wanted.
Called in at one of my mates,he's just finished doing this WW II Chevy.

Image

All was well until I tried to start the Triumph. It wasn't having it  ,I realised that the clutch switch wasn't engaging, ended up removing the lever & starting again. Now the clutch doesn't feel as good as I had got it but the bike starts as it should.
More fettling' required..

The clutch bite on the monkey was at the end of travel, I just gave it loads more freeplay, better now. 👍

Yesterday (and the day before that, and the day before that)

Image

Full report to follow later in the week when I've sort myself out ( I haven't even unloaded the van yet), but in summary, despite some bike challenges, was a cracking weekend, and I am already loving my racing even more than I did last year ( if that's possible :D )

Nothing particularly special about the place, but it was a 3.5 hour ride away, i somehow managed to avoid all the showers, and on the way back i got to ride some of my favourite roads in Oxfordshire in glorious sunshine. :D
