Straps will hooks around metal frame of rack. But the possible concern you've given me is will the straps cut into rear edge of plastic, if so I'll put some pipe foam or summot like on that rear edge to stop wear, possibly maybe.

Those lids are quite brittle, not a lot of give in them. We have quite a few in the roofspace and some lids break in normal operation.

Re: Honda mini bikes.
yeah same, that's why I asked the question. TBH, you'd want something more like a plastic breadboard (ie about 1/2" thick-ish)Skub wrote: Wed Mar 25, 2026 4:19 pm Those lids are quite brittle, not a lot of give in them. We have quite a few in the roofspace and some lids break in normal operation.

It's not taking much weight, it's to stop bag droop. I've stuck a A4 size piece of black poly plastic stuff underneath to give it a bit of firmness. It's only the widest couple of inches where it's on it's own.
I could just buy a piece cut to size and thickness but that's equivalent to 4 bottles of Shepherd Neame, ain't happening.

Re: Honda mini bikes.
You could probably stop the bag drooping at the ends if you packed a length of wood inside it at the bottom.
Maybe.
Perhaps.
Or simply strap it underneath the bag?

Re: Honda mini bikes.
Well........due to the overwhelming positivly negative feedback for my prototype rack extension, I've been busy this morning with my 2nd incarnation, made of wood.
Rooting through the shed i found some ply
. Cut 500 x 200, took the edge off, bit of a rub down and here we have it. Its 14mm thick and strong as an ox.
Its only gonna be used when needed so god knows when tbh, but its ready and willing.

I also have a piece ready for when I use the big bag.

and just a reminder of the PT1 masterpiece.

I quite like the plank. Very aero and if set correctly will help keep the rear from spinning up when given the beans. Coat it in carbon fibre vinyl wrap and you're on to a winner

It's staying in its natural form and if I fancy a buttered scone or slice of tiger loaf with some dairylea while I'm out, the cutting board is available.

Re: Honda mini bikes.
Monkeys been out for 80 odd miles today. Hail, sleet, strong gusts, heavy rain, cold with lovely sunshine, perfect.

Local hill's with lunch in Clun. Ham n cheese toastie and tea. Pic looking over the Stiperstones.

Fair play getting out in those conditions, around here it's been windy as feck all day with the occasional shower thrown in.You're Monkey bike would have struggled riding into the headwind!

Yep, it turns into a 4 speed in the slightest headwind or incline. 3 speed with both.
