Lanx Shoes

Post by KungFooBob »

Anyone wear Lanx?

How do the sizes compare to Loakes?

Are they any good?

The adverts keep popping up and they look quite good in the pics, there's some very mixed Trust Pilot reviews, but mostly good. I don't fancy driving to Whaley to try some on, Clinkards where I used to buy my Loakes has shut it's bricks and mortar shop in Meadowhell, so I'm open to trying something different.

My Wife has a pair of their boots and loves them. The original pair she got had some loose elastic on the ankle bit which became loose after a week or so. Can't fault their customer service, they offered to refund fully or send out a new pair (after inspection). Mrs wanted to try another pair and they've been going strong for over a year now.

Not heard of them before. Had a quick nose around their offerings. Their trainers are a bit spendy compared with another 'Made in Lancashire' option.

https://normanwalsh.com/collections/made-in-uk

My experience with the Walsh trainers was that you really, really need to try things for size when going for a different brand. It seems that most manufacturers have a different view on what size 8.5 feet are. I went for a 9 and they were 'snug'. Wife went half a size up on a pair of 6s and hers were too big.

If we go for v spendy Northampton-made stuff, sizes for a good fit go down.

Could be that manufacturing tolerances are a bit liberal at some places.

I think I'll order some on payday, the returns process seems pretty simple, must remember to try them on a carpeted floor just in case.

They've got these in the Outlet section in my size that look good, imho.

I'm a 11.5 in Loakes, I've got a pair of 12's that are just a smidge too big, but not to bad if I pad them out with some additional gel insoles.

A bargain at Lek 17,600.00 (then I remembered I had the VPN on.)

A bit spendy for me but definitely if I had the money I’d be interested. I’d never heard of them and it makes you think how many other little companies are on the go, not necessarily footwear that you never encounter unless you’re in the know.

Lanx very carefully avoid mentioning just how many of their shoes are made in their Lancashire factory (or Northampton) as opposed to India, Portugal etc etc. Their trainers look like they could be sourced from Walsh, in Lancs, (who clearly separate their UK and China shoes offerings) with a premium added.

The deeper I look (including at the owner) the more :hmmm: I get.

I'm out.

The trainers are made in partnership with Walshs.

I've just ordered a pair of boots in 12s, if they don't fit right it looks like they're pretty good with returns.

I got offered a first order discount using code FIRST10, but coupert found a better code CHARLIESURVIVAL with got me a random £17.05 off.

My very first pair of Loakes were from the 'Styles' range, which I think are Indian made. They were very good shoes.

I have a pair of Indian made Loakes 'desert boots' and they're fine but you know with Loakes that if you want 'Made in England' you select the 'Made in England' range ie the 1880s and the rest will be made to Loakes standards elsewhere.

'Elsewhere' doesn't necessarily mean  - the Italians make some damn fine footwear too. :D

It's the lack of transparency with Lanx about what they actually make rather than design and contract out that has me in the :hmmm: camp.

Delivery was pretty prompt, I want expecting them until next week!

They look/feel quite premium, not instantly comfortable, they're gonna need a bit of breaking in.

The blue is that dark it's almost black.

Not keen tbh. IMO, the vamp is too long, so the lace holes start too high up, thus making your feet look very long.

I'm an 11 and try to choose shoes with a short/low vamp to avoid them looking too long. It's why loafers are flattering for big feet.

The phone lens distorts the pic too.

Also, they're boots, not shoes. If that makes a difference. I wouldn't normally wear them with jeans, I was just trying them on in the pic.

Not heard of them, but imo they look good 👍

I have 2 pairs of Loakes in my current rotation. A pair of these: https://www.loake.com/product/bedale-oxblood-grain/ which are just fantastic and I wear more than I probably should

And a pair of these: https://www.loake.com/product/sprint-dark-brown/ which I got because I wanted something casual that I could get away with for work. These are horrible and very uncomfortable. I keep trying to persevere with them but my feet always end up paying.

Also have a couple of pairs of Campers - heads up, their sizes are very small

Will check out Lanx.( I think your boots look great with jeans)

I picked up another pair of Loake a few weeks back but in a desert boot style. I take an 11 and with the lace style, they look very long in the vamp.
