I ordered something online, it's being shipped by UPS so UPS sent me an email. This caught my eye:

I had one on Whatsapp the other day for a hotel booking I have actually made via Booking.com inviting me to pay the deposit to secure the booking. Looked pukka enough, but we all know that everything is done via the app. The number being located in India was a bit of a red flag too.

Still waiting on that Nigerian prince to sort me out for lending him £2,000 to release his billions from that Swiss bank, by the way.

3 Yesterday, after two phone calls: "Will be delivered by 6:00 pm today"
4 Yesterday on the website " "will be delivered tomorrow, 8:30 - 11:30"
The latest estimate on the website is by the end of the day today. Should I hold my breath?

Had almost exactly the same with UPS over 2 weeks in March.

I kept getting daily 'we tried to deliver but there is an issue, we'll try again' messages and implying they needed more address info. (Everyone else manages with the address they were given).

I think they hold onto parcels until they have enough to justify sending a van to the locality and just send out messages without attempting delivery - profitability algorithms and all that.

This is why Microsoft Outlook pisses me off - they're now deliberately hiding the "real" link and only displaying by default the "From" data element (ie the "name") that is supplied with the email.

It's almost like they're encouraging their users to click phishing links rather than trying to prevent it.

I just got another update, bear in mind I've been at home all day and nobody has knocked on the door:

So after waiting a week for this parcel to be delivered I have to go into town to pick it up, just to do their job for them and deliver it myself.

That's what I got many of - 'Delivery Attempted..." but implying (from info from the sender) that they couldn't find the house. Every (including Evri, Parcel Farce, DPD etc) other company manages ok. When it did turn up there was a map printed off from 'FindMyAddress' with the house flagged on it.

OK, it's in a village and it's all house names not numbers on this road but there's a pretty obvious house sign at the verge. I think the driver was pulling a 'I'm not going all the way over there just for one parcel it'll take me 20 minutes and I only get 20p for delivering it. I'll wait until there's more stuff in the van for that area' stunt.

I've had this Eos for about 5 years now, and I've grown to quite like it, despite it's somewhat contrary nature. It's about as complicated as I believe a car needs to be (well... the roof adds to that a lot I'll admit).
