A woman who won a £6m home can finally move in after more than a year – following a prolonged planning dispute that has now been settled. Vicky Curtis-Cresswell has endured an "extremely stressful time" since winning the property in Blakeney, Norfolk, through an Omaze draw.
Ms Curtis-Cresswell, from South Wales, had been unable to take ownership of the coastal home after a council probe found it had broken regulations. Omaze spent months addressing the construction issues, which they now confirm have been resolved. The luxury property was offered as a prize by Omaze for Comic Relief in March 2025.
However, North Norfolk District Council later opened an investigation which found it was in breach of planning rules.
It said certain features were built without proper permission, including a pool, garage and tennis court.
An Omaze spokesman said: “Omaze is pleased to confirm that all remaining works at the Blakeney property have been completed, and the home is ready for handover.
“Omaze’s lawyers are working closely with Ms Curtis-Cresswell’s legal representatives to finalise the conveyancing process, and Omaze has been in direct contact with her to arrange a walkthrough of the property this month ahead of completion.
“Ms Curtis-Cresswell has already received her £250,000 cash prize and has been regularly updated and supported throughout the process. Once she is ready to take possession, she will become the owner of a multi-million-pound property that she won for £10.
“Omaze appreciates that the process has taken time given the retrospective planning-related matters initiated by third parties that have been fully resolved and looks forward to completing the handover shortly.”
