A quick shake down run to start the season with.
Headed into that Welsh Wales, via Welshpool and back home again by means of Rhayader and Crossgates

A local bike meet 'Storming the Castle' seems to have really taken off, there were hundreds of bikes there tonight. I met folk I haven't seen in years.
I dunno if it's the sort of thing where I would be a regular, but it's good to have the option occasionally.

It's low temperatures here again and rain heading in for the afternoon,so I took advantage of the morning to steal a ride.
I was close to home and approaching a crossroads when I saw the roof of a white van on my left approaching the junction. Good job I did, because he didn't so much as glance my direction, just drove out, then hung a left. First time I've used my horn in many moons, because I wanted him to know what he did before he totals someone less wary. I briefly considered turning around and bending his ear, then I thought nope. I've had a great, chilled ride and I'm not going to let some random cunt bring me down.

Anyway, fuck all that, here's a nice Spring shot for you lovely people. 8-)

I had the monkey out, took me to a canalside cafe where I enjoyed some carrot cake and a cuppa. You'll have to imagine the beautiful scene with a super cool bike in the foreground as I forgot to take pic's. 👍

Led a ride today, 11 people started and 11 finished so I'll call that a result. Rykas - Yapton - Devils Dyke icecream - Rykas.

The picture is the only one I took because I parked my helmet next to another one the same. The Schuberth C5. Everything about it is great apart from it's a bit heavy for me. Around about lunchtime tomorrow, after I've been sat at the pc all morning my neck is going to go very stiff and tomorrow night I'm going to have to take a NSAIDs in order to get some sleep.

Bloody love the bike (CB1000R SP). I've thrown everything at it now and it copes very well.

@Trinity765 Coming from long term Arai ownership, one of the benefits of them putting up their prices, was me finding out an HJC RPHA-11 was really light in comparison. Worth trying one?

I would. I seem to remember that they come up small so would need to try some on. My go-to is Shoei as I've never had any issues with them and can buy them online as I know my size - expensive visors though.

Yeah,I'm a medium in Arai world,so I bought a medium HJC. It fitted ok apart from the cheek pads which were very tight,so I bought a set a size smaller and that was the ticket. Not straightforward, but a solution.

Yesterday at Darley Moor.

First time there for me- a funny, scruffy little place that I felt had a very "Northern" sort of vibe about it, both in the way it was run and the people there, but I loved the track, despite the (WWII prison camp standard :D ) facilities, and quite worryingly close trackside tyre walls everywhere.

Temperature barely made double figures all day, we had high winds, plenty of rain and hail too, but I came away with a 7th in my first race, then 2nd (and fastest lap 8-) ) in the second , for which I got what is possibly the smallest, cheapest piece of plastic I've ever seen, but it matters not, it's a trophy, yay!

And there definitely seemed to be a fair load more spectators than you get at the average NG or Bemsee meeting, despite the horrid weather- I reckon allowing dogs in maybe makes a difference, as there were loads there

Fuller report to (maybe) follow when I update my racing thread, by suffice to say I came away very happy with that, and it's set me up nicely for Cadwell this weekend- I love being old and retired!

Team meeting day at Auction/conference centre, so I took the bike;)
May have used some cycle parking;) a van was taking up rest of spaces, no pedal cycles in sight (remote location).

This morning I had a 10am appointment, wifey had gone out with the Friday walking group so I thought I'd ride over to meet them. There's a nice little bar there for breakfast. Unfortunately it's been closed since February

The only thing of note in Torre del Rico is a 16th century tower.

The Thursday ride group had been postponed until today, they were on the way to the English bar so I headed there. The route over takes me past the marble quarry at Alguena, there's a Google street view tour of it.

Then onto the English bar in La Romana.
