Sped up to beat a red light, forgetting Waze had literally just told me it was a red light/speed camera combo.

With 6 points on my license I literally drive everywhere on adaptive speed control! I really miss having it on a bike too!KungFooBob wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 7:45 am I find using my adaptive cruise control set to the speed limit 99% of the time helps me not break the law![]()

I read them carefully..... then decide whether or not to ignore them.Wossname wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 9:28 am Before anyone else says it…. Do you lot not read speed limits? What else do you miss?
(In all seriousness - I need to keep my licence clean for my job).

I think the speed awareness course is done online now, that's a bit tedious, because I found the 'real live' course to be hilarious, especially for people watching.

Being an old fart, I drive at the speed limit. I like my license squeaky-clean as it's a ballache getting points. Adhering to the speed limit around my way invariably gets me tailgated, flashed repeatedly or overtaken dangerously on a regular basis.

Riding within London's 20mph speed limits, with myopic pedestrians, meandering scooter riders and crazy cyclists everywhere, its very easy to stray over the stupid 20mph limit. Plod are always lurking, hidden, with their speed guns too.Wossname wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 9:28 am Before anyone else says it…. Do you lot not read speed limits? What else do you miss?

London and 20 mph gave me £100 and 3 points recently. Google earthed the road to find the 20 sign is behind a direction sign in the tiny section I got caught on. Decided to just accept my error.

20mph is ridiculous, other than outside schools for a short distance. Does cruise control even work at that 'speed'? Y'all need to vote in more sensible humans.

Lots of London is 20 mph and at night we've had our van drivers adhering to the limit and then being called out at the lights they've stopped at by upset drug dealers in their BM's and Mercs who've been held up. Corporate response is just ring the Police and don't break the speed limit or we'll discipline you.Skub wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 1:33 pm 20mph is ridiculous, other than outside schools for a short distance. The roads here in town at 45-60mph (residential is slower).. but a lot of our roads are 4-6 lanes wide.Skub wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 1:33 pm 20mph is ridiculous, other than outside schools for a short distance.
