Sadly my usual physio for the beginning of the week hasn't been here, so despite being allowed to start weight bearing, the two sessions have felt a bit cotton woolly :( :(

But, this afternoon I had the first pool therapy (think it translates a hydrotherapy?) session today and DAMN it was good!!!! Ok, probably not massive amounts of work, but to actually walk normally, albeit in shoulder deep water, was bloody awesome! And I am VERY tired!!

I have been sad that the first two days of weight bearing I've not had sessions with either of the scary but excellent physios - tomorrow I see them both :o :o :o. One for a physio session and straight afterwards I go to balnéo (pool) with the other one!! (and the other one loudly called after me today that I can walk on 25% weight bearing - I laughed because I didn't think she was serious, outside the pool. Now I'm not so sure!!!)

My PA told me yesterday that I would have done 22 presentations by the end of the month. Individual presentations, typically to boards but one was to radio 4.

Early this AM picked wife up from LHR. She’s been out in Silicon Valley for 10 days with work ( Google). During that time she and a colleague were mugged and any illusion that San Francisco is glamorous have been shattered 😩😀

Today- London. Presentation to an exec cohort. Tomorrow Cambridge. Two presentations about different things on same day. Each 90 minutes. None of this will be remarkable at all to some of you, however my usual presentation tally in any given month is < 1

Landy currently with an engineer. He’s brilliant and he hates land rovers so is keenly working at pace to ‘get that cunt out of my fucking garage’ 😂. Don’t know what’s up with it, but he needed a new prop shaft just so he could evaluate the rest of the work.

I have in my pocket a siglo vi which I’m very much looking forward forward to having tonight and wash down with some Blantons after what will be a very long day.

It's nuts.

I recently replied to a post where a chap was having bike bother. I duly left my thoughts,no swearing of anything offensive, just trying to be helpful. Post declined and a warning for breaking the rules....

I've been walking   :bblonde: :bblonde:

Before the pool therapy, my physio session wasn't! Well, not exactly as normal.

Because I have issues with the arm, I can't support my weight (mostly cos it's too much weight ) whilst walking between the 'bars' in the main physio room.

So, the other option turns out to be an AlterG machine -

https://alterg.com/

Image

Totally hysterical trying to get into it, have to put on some shorts that zip into the machine, once the shorts are on, I have to get on the machine and into it whilst not using the right arm or left leg!!!

Once that was done, the shorts bit is zipped to the machine bit and then it gets filled up with air

The physio then puts in the amount of weight that I am allowed to put on the leg and the air level accounts for that, and she starts the machine!

So - Today I walked for 10 minutes   :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

And THEN I went to pool therapy and did more walking in water, plus other exercises; all this after doing the leg press this morning :)

Currently extra happy because, in all honesty, the knee isn't painful and is only slightly warmer than usual!!

Whilst doing each exercise, there's a bit of "grumpiness" on the inside of the knee, but with the APA (spazzy sports) physio this morning we looked at the xrays done on monday and the area corresponds with where the top of the metal is (it looks to be slightly sticky out in the xray).

So, since it's not actually painful and the grumpiness doesn't feel like it's a bone grumpiness, we're keeping going :) :)

I CAN WALK :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde: (a bit!!!)

Physios say I can go to 50% next week and see how that feels, so, cross fingers :) :) :)

Got sent a photo by my mum of a cousin I never knew I had*. Apparently my mum's eldest brother's daughter. One of my nieces is into researching the family tree and discovered her living about 5 minutes from where my mum lives.

*Increases my known cousins on my mum's side from 0 to 1. We ain't exactly a sprawling family. :P

I "walked" 20 minutes today!! only at 1.5km/hour so I think thats about 500m but I started slower so i think that the machine said about 400m when I stopped

Not at all far, BUT - at only 25% weight bearing and only the second walk out of water - :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

Then the mate I was with when I crashed came to see me and brought me goodies AND then a friend from resort came over, with his dog and more goodies

So so very happy :) (honestly, more about the walking than the goodies, but the chats with mates were excellent too :) )

Sadly, can't walk without the aid of an airbag type unit thingy, but yeah - evolution is true

School Service at 9am. Then a quote for solar, battery and ASHP for the Church Hall. Lunch with daughter, some admin work, more emails and another quote for the Church Hall. Trying to get as much detail as possible.

Going to cook dinner in a little while for the family. Battered fish and roast potatoes will be nice I think... Or salmon and something...

Trying for a quiet evening and a glass of G&T.

It's been a crime infested shit hole for at least 20 years. There's even a website that maps the daily human excrement locations so you can avoid the shittier streets.

Ran errands around town & stopped by Fart & Smile to grab some vittles. Was walking across the parking lot to the store when a car backed out of a spot to my left & almost hit me, did a Fred Astaire type side step to avoid getting hit.
Guy to my right & slightly behind me: "Almost got a pay day right there..." ;)
Me: "Dammit, I was thinking self preservation, not dollars & swerved the wrong way"

Had to undo some of my cross stitch first thing hen I realised there was a patch that was one row too far down - probably wouldn't have mattered, but "I knew" so it would have bothered me - since it'll be on my wall !!!

But, then did loads, redid the bit I undid

And have done some standing at 50% on the bad leg today :) :). No pain, don't even need an ice pack :) :) :)

Howled the rear tire of the GPz11 off a light, then the fucker hooked up & hoiked the front wheel about 2ft off the ground across the intersection... gave it the berries & it came up again on the 2nd to 3rd gear change. :wtf:
Scared the piss out of me for a moment until I thought "wait a sec, I've got this". 8-)

For some reason the guy on the Harley who was giving it loud at the first light didn't try to impress me again at the next light... which is just as well as I doubt I could pull off a launch like that again, at least deliberately

Glad I didn't stuff it as I was wearing my "I find myself to be exorbitantly superannuated for this feculence" t-shirt.. which would have been awkward, but apt, if I got scraped off the road into an ambulance.

:bblonde: :bblonde: 50% :bblonde: :bblonde:

Did physio this morning and lots of little wins -

I'm allowed to bend the knee past 90 degrees now but we haven't done much on that since seeing the surgeon, I guess because the knee is still a bit swollen so it's not going to bend as well as if not :(
But - today we did the exercise and the physio measured. 115 degrees - the look on her face suggests that this is very good :) :) Very good indeed :) I'd go as far as to say that she was surprised

Then I cycled on a static bike (I am not comfortable on a cycle with the shoulder  ) and did 15 mins, 5.7kms and a whole 10 kcals FFS !!! :angry-cussingblack: I am not a fan of cycling* (even on a static!) but I know it's good for knees/legs, so need to get my cycle sorted when I get home. If I'm too scared to cycle properly, I'll have to try and find one of those things I can fix the rear wheel into so I can turn it into a static (sort of!!) - cycling stationary whilst looking at the mountains might be ok :)

Then did some standing exercises - 50% weight on the leg :bblonde: It feels "full" (swollen?) when I do that, but it only felt bad when using the rounded squashy things used for balance exercises. My balance has never been good, so I wobble more than I should, so yes, it was not a particularly good sensation

BUT - 50% for exercises is fab :) :) This afternoon I'm back in the AlterG air walk machine, so we are going to try and get close to 50% for walking - suspect that will happen for the next session on Weds, but would be nice if I can get close :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Doctor here has a probable release date for me of 11 June (if the physio continues to go well) and I've asked my local physio (not the winter one) if he can help sort out physio session for June. See the surgeon again on the 29 June and looks like I'll probably be back to work on the 30th :obscene-drinkingcheers: :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Soooo - positive start to the week :) :)

*Please don't ban me cos I don't like cycles  :!:
