Might be different having bone damaged repaired as to having knee replacements? But, when I had my knee(s) replaced, the surgeon was really keen for me to get the knee bending and straightened asap. He said that once scar tissue forms, it reduces the joint's flexibility because it's very firm and tough. Thinking I was clever, I put a towel around my ankle and started pulling the leg to bend the knee and tore something and started it bleeding!  So dont get too enthusiastic with things! :D

This is basically why I just wanted a knee replacement because the walking bit comes along MUCH quicker. (Some people have said return to work isn't much quicker, but I guess sitting at a steering wheel wouldn't be difficult since I drive automatics!)

Even last time with the deceptively simple fracture of the tibia plateau I couldn't weight bear until after 45 days. The combination of spazzy arm/shoulder and broken knee meant I was off for 5 months - so I was a bit panicky, but if the release date stays as suggested, I should get back to work in under four months - hopefully

This time it was properly exploded. The worry is that if the bone hasn't consolidated before you start weight bearing it could break again. And when you have as many pins/screws over two plates (and the top of the plateau where a bit was missing) as I have, I guess there is more concern

And, you numpty !! LOL Not that I'm much better LOL. But I am trying to be really good and follow basic rules!! I did put more than 25% weight through the foot this weekend - but (it turns out) not over 50%, and the goal was to try, if it had hurt, I'd have stopped!!!

I had my right knee done first and was driving within a week. This was because I brake left footed in autos, and I had a convertible, so I could put the roof down to let me step into the car rather than bend my legs to get into it.

Last night I went to pick up a Chinese takeaway and clipped a dropped curb moving out of the way of a Mum Truck that wasn't stopping. Got home and the tyre was knackered.

Woke up this morning with the mindset that it was going to be a ball ache to get it sorted on a bank holiday. Turned out to be wrong. 9:00am - rang the place I used last time for the wife's car and they had them in stock. 10:45am - I'd finished and was putting the tools away.

Cut (what's left) of the grass, strimmed the edges. Disassembled the old patio umbrella base, drained the water out of the weights and stuck it in the car to take to the tip. Ate left over Chinese for lunch.

Channeling my inner Monty Don,I finished off installing the coffin shaped flower tubs. Four of them lined and levelled so Mrs.Skub can plant wildflowers for the bees innit. Also repotted some of her more recent acquisitions.

Been for a 5 mile run, half way round I slipped on some mud, crashed to the floor, picked my sorry arse up and carried on running for the remaining 2.5 miles.

I'm now sat with ice pack on my knee*, held in place with my bruised and cut hand.

*hamstring still giving me a little grief on longer runs rather than fall related.

My wife wanted to go to M&S as she'd seen some clothes on their website she really liked the look of. No probs, I can't paint as its going to rain, so I'll run you over there. We don't have an M&S here but a neighbouring town does, which is about a 22 mile round trip. After dutifully following her around M&S for some time, watching her pick up various item and oooing and arring, I said have you made your mind up yet? She replies, Oh, I'm not buying I just wanted to see what they look like up close. :wtf: It never rained either, so it was a double waste of time!

Ours is drained right now for a good scrub. Roomies son (43yo) was out there at 4am last night & decided to have a look at the bottom of the pool. Stubbed a toe on the steps getting out & went to the ER. Daft bugger broken the one next to the pinky toe.
ER did the fat end of fuck all except xray, gave him some Norco and an ortho boot. He drove himself home at 10am. He asked for a dr's note to get off work... FFS.

Been out for a butchers at the guy cleaning the pool, the pressure washer he has is some half-assed Dewalt contraption that doesn't appear to be doing anything except wetting the surface. The one I have in the garage is far superior.
Now it's getting an acid wash.

Last night:
Roomie bought a mount for his laptop doodad to go in his Audi. The bottom of it uses the front left bolt on the passenger seat rail. He didn't have the correct tool to undo the bolt & comes to me.
I go look & it's one of those three square/12 point bolts.
I KNOW I have the correct bit, It's in my main toolbox *somewhere*, I've SEEN it at some point. :?
I look in the two socket drawers... Nope
Look in the top drawer that has miscellaneous stuff... nope.

Then it dawns on me... I open the tin box that contains the Talco hand impact that I bought in 1978. It's right there, the solitary 12 pointer I own. Not only is it the right size, but in 48 years it's the first time I've ever used that bit. 8-)
