What does it do?

Mrs Iccy said we needed a new coffee machine, but I fixed it by taking it apart and putting it back together with only half the bits.
That's my pleasing non-purchase this week.

Its a sort of electric bbq, for want of a different explanation. Its for outside use but if we'r not using the pellet smoker we use it indoors. You can select different cooking programs through the app as it goes on your network, then put your keabs, steak, fish or whatever on and shut the lid. It'll then bleep when its time to flip the steak etc. I do find it'll over cook things though and use the lower settings.

We really got it because my wife can't light a bbq, but can switch this on and then I come home and join her in the garden for dinner.

What you want is a dual fuel BBQ.

I put the gas burners on for a couple of minutes to get the charcoal going, then shut them off and cook proper like.

It ain't rocket surgery, put charcoal in chimney starter, light 2 woodies underneath, go away for a beer for 30 minutes, come back job jobbed, 1 lot of glowing coals ready to cook on.

Two things here.

First was had the forks overhauled on the Suzuki. Wowsers, it's amazing now.
It's always been good, but now it's perfect. Just in time for my forthcoming trip to Portimao

Secondly some SBS FA447HH pads. Simply stunning. Usually pads take a while to bed in but these grabbed first hit. Had fun 10 mile ride :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Best pads I've ever had.

Or light it off with a propane torch.

However, I usually use a couple of those white wax/paraffin(?) cubes.

BBQ with charcoal is a PITA, we do it all on a gas BBQ now, it's so much less hassle and the food really doesn't taste that different.

The charcoal BBQ takes ages to get going, then it cooks the food to death unless you get it perfect and constantly faff about with it, then the breeze blows embers into the swimming pool and creates a mess - or if it's on a balcony sets the whole building alight :flame:
Then before you use it next time you have to shovel all the ash out, etc.

'Aint no one got time for that, I bang the gas fired BBQ on for a few minutes until it's warm, put the food on and come back when it's cooked.

I went the gas route too after years believing that somehow the charcoal was part of the flavour process. Turns out it's just the burning fat/marinade that drips onto the hot stuff that makes smoke that infuses the flavours so the charcoal isn't important.

However I still have a bucket charcoal barbecue if I just want to crank out eg half a dozen fish kebabs.

I suppose it's easier to chuck in some wood chips for smokiness on a charcoal barby than on a gas one.

If I'm cooking on gas I may as well get the wife to put the oven on in the kitchen :silent:

I've got a couple of BBQs, weber, barrel, small one etc, but we rarely use them since having the Ninja. BBQs are more engaging and I do like standing there cooking, but the Ninja frees me up to sit and chat etc and no one gets smoke in their eyes! :D I like having the options...

I can understand that, back to caveman days, sometimes when I'm at home on my own I go out into the garden stark bollock naked and roll around in the soil, I cover myself over and pretend that I'm a potato.

The baby Sonos turned up.

Smaller than I imagined (20p for comparison) but set up was a doddle on my existing Sonos network and it packs a proper punch in terms of sound.
Charges from a USB-C, supposed 10-hour battery life and flips to Bluetooth via button on the back. Apparently it's waterproof up to 1m, but not sure I'll ever attempt to test that function. Very much like the Move I've got, although that's a chunker and way more shouty and sits on its own charging ring.

All in all a very pleasing purchase for £118.
