Out early for a couple of hours. Heated gear was well appreciated.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
I taxed the GS and took it out for my usual 80 mile loop in the peaks, I vary rarely ride it solo (it's the holiday bike), so I rode it like a proper twat. Overtook quite a few bikes and had quite a fun race with an M3 (I think he was a bit of a shit driver as he should have lost me easily).
I actually quite enjoyed it. I also saw a helicopter in a field near Glossop (G-ONTV), looked like there was some kind of event on, but I was too on it to slow down and have a proper look.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Had a fantastic day Saturday. Got up early-ish and headed out just before 8. The weather was glorious, as although it was only 10C the sun was warm and summer gloves were easily warm enough. Only had about 2.5 hours so headed up to Heybridge for a cup of coffee.
Perfect biking morning, not so handy if you fancied an early sail

Had one of those nice flowing rides, where everything comes easy and then now again open the taps up and get Mr Sulu to engage send the world backwards mode. Magic, I love motorbikes
Got back around 10.30, quick turnaround and then back out the door with my son to pick his mate up for a trip to the VE Day flying day at Duxford, free with my membership
although there were the usual Spitfires, Hurricanes, Mustangs etc, the star of the show for me as an old Air Cadet was the 80th anniversary of the venerable Chipmunk. There were 42 of the buggers! Including the Portuguese Air Force who are retiring theirs this year. End of the display was a formation of 18 Chippy's. Link to a better video than mine, and I couldn't work out how to share it!
Bling Chippy goodness

Rounded up with a pint on the way home in the sun, before chilling in the garden for dinner like it was summer.
Sunday though....WTF happened there! 21C and summer on Saturday, 9C grey sky's and a cold wind Sunday

We get a Chippie over us occasionally - Spitfires.com at Goodwood have one that is part of their Spitfire Piliot training course: PPL > Chipmunk> Harvard > Spitfire. (costs about 80k last time I looked)

Last time I was on the Long Mynd there was a vintage glider meet at the gliding club. Plenty of Kirby Cadet MK3's and Sebdurgs.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Me neither, they were being phased in as I was close to leaving so never got a go in one. I did get offered a flying scholarship shortly before I left, and I'm guessing that would have been in Bulldog's but by then as great as the thought of lots of weekends flying was, the reality was I was more interested in going out on the piss/pull by that point. Shame I couldn't have put it off till nowMrLongbeard wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 2:03 pm Ahhh, Chipmonks, them were the days, never did go a go in a Bulldog though.

My pal was having a night away in Morro Jable bottom end of Fuerteventura with his missus
So I rode down at steady pace with them.
Nice lunch and quicker ride back

That looks like the beach front carpark in Spiddal.

About 570 miles to, around and from North Wales (to London) for the Welsh National Road Rally last weekend. It really got me back into the pleasure of riding again, after feeling a bit unmotivated to do it for a while.

I had one of those 'all is right with the world' runs today. Man you couldn't buy that feeling.
