Do you play card games [in the pub]

One group of my friends would regularly take cards and play Shit Head or Cheat, or take dice and play Mexico. Now that the group is smaller, we tend to play small board games, usually card-based.

Another friend and I habitually take a game called Hive with us to play. One other friend and I take a chessboard.

I need to get my eyes tested. Thought you wrote cheeseboard and I'm thinking, how do you play cards with it?
