Here we go again

Post by Le_Fromage_Grande »

Saw a scamera van on my home from work, I was doing 37ish in a 30, guess this will be speeding conviction number 7, my only excuse is that it was downhill.

If you have no self control, what you want is a half modern car with adaptive cruise control.

I honestly don't know, but I think it was for about the same distance that I got a speed awareness course for

I think he means the period over which you have committed seven offences. Probably concerned about 'totting up'?

No, it'll be a £100 fine and 3 points.
I'm more bothered that it's come so quick after the last one, about 8 months, I'm going to have to be careful

Have you considered sticking to the speed limits?

On the bike I stick to 30 and 40 limits rigorously, everything else is fair game and if I'm caught I'm not bending over to pick up the soap.

In the car, I stick to the limits religiously. It's such an easy thing to do in a modern car, they bong and flash if you go a single mph over the limit.

I bagged 3 points in 2023 and they reamed me for car insurance. Oddly no change to the bike premiums.

It's a racket.

My car is 18 years old, there's no bongs or flashes.

If it's a van, by the time you recognise them, they've probably got you. Around here they'll typically park after a bend and have the equipment focused for long-distance views.

Speeding fines are the opposite of tax evasion.

Only if you're going over the speed limit.
