Rip Off Ferries

Post by Felix »

Two adults Bike and inside room.

DFDS from Newcastle to Ijmuiden £1300

P&0 from Hull to Rotterdam £999

Both of them bastards before covid was around £350 to £400.

Looks like we and our Tesco clubcard points are heading south and jumping on a train or Irish Ferry.

Anywhere bike safe to stay about an hour from Dover??

You haven't mentioned the Daddy of them all - The Isle of Man Steam Racket.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

I've been looking at a trip to Italy in September. The ferry from Barcelona to Civitavecchia (north of Rome), 2 people, 2 bikes, sharing a cabin is about €420 each way. I thought that was ok for 20 hour ferry trip.

We get 75% discount on all ferries and planes
It cost about 700€ return from Lanzarote to Cadiz.
That's car and ferry and posh cabin
And free food all the way

About 320€ with just bike

Isn't the Isle of Wight ferry the dearest per mile in all of Europe?

Isle of Man for up to 5 days is £150 return for bike & rider.I've never looked for TT week but it wouldn't surprise me to find it's double the price.
I detest the run to the channel ports from here (Lancashire),but Newhaven-Dieppe is less than £50 each way.We sailed back from Ouistreham to Portsmouth last month,I think that was £44.
A few times I've read of Scots getting the boat to Larne then running down through Ireland for the Rosslare ferry rather than ride to Dover etc

I read that as Ferrets.
I was expecting to hear about a rampage of angry mustelids.

The collective noun is a business of ferrets btw.

Angry mustelids you say….
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

How much is Harwich to the Hook, though I live not far from Harwich and it's quicker and nicer to get the Channel Tunnel and ride a bit more.

I paid £240 for Liverpool to Douglas return early May or late April. Me and monkey. Out on Saturday, in on Tuesday. If I was prepared to take late ferry getting in about 11pm it was quite a bit cheaper. If I rode to Heysham and back to Liverpool it was £140, but bollox to that on a monkey.

Also, some lads got the same ferrys as me both ways and paid £130, it's a fcuking racket for sure.

Pretty sure it's Belfast/Larne to Cairnryan.

Bike and rider is around £130 return and you can literally see Scotland from Larne.
