It was a risk, but in my mind only from the context of MRs Weeksy not getting on with it potentially.

I've been slightly swayed by some of the discussions on here suggesting that you should buy a bike that moves your soul, not just you arse.
I mean I always buy bikes that I think will have a bit of magic but I also consider reliability, parts availability etc. So Japanese, Triumph and even Aprilia. But now I have a bit more spending power, maybe I can look for something more desirable and exotic.

So I've been looking at used MVs. Something like a 800 Brutale of 2015 vintage in very tidy order can be had for 6-7 bags of sand.

I love the stacked exhaust on the MV triple, first time I saw an F3 in the flesh I think I drooled all over it for about an hour!

Following a look into a workshop with several mashed up engines I take back what I said, I probably wouldn't buy another, unless it was the new engine (2021) - but then I said last last time I walked into a KTM workshop and found a load of bent valves and smashed pistons.

Walking into any workshop you’ll see broken bikes they kinda wouldn’t be there otherwise lol

It is the same failed components and on the plus side I'm told that they know about it and will give you a new engine when it goes bang because they know it's a problem on some bikes.

I would and that one looks very nice. I rode a friends B4 for an afternoon once and I was surprised how easy it was to ride and of course, it was a lot of fun. My friend never had any complaints about his though he had to travel a fair way for servicing.

I wouldn't hesitate, I was considering an 899 Pani for the Portimao track extravaganza, but also an MV 800 F3. I might still go for an MV for summer fun. I think I'd want to park it in my study though

My first ride on a Brutale was a 4 cyl 989r tbh I was pretty sold on them at that point. That was between owning my 04 RSVR and 1100 Monster evo.

I've only ridden the F4 1000 and the 312R, both IL4 engines and both having 'interesting' fuelling. It wasn't helped by the fact my mate who owned them set them up really badly for me, arse up, nose down and stiff as a board.

The big thing for me though was the time we went to Mallory, Couch had bought an F4 1000 and it was the usual bunch of lads there, a couple of months earlier Couch was in Portimao and running with the lads in a group in fast around the same pace on his ZX6R. At Mallory he was 3-5s a lap off the pace which on such a short circuit is a massive chunk to have lost.

They are 'special' though, or at least they were when they were hand-built. Now they're sort of special still but not quite in the same way.

I'd still buy one though, everyone should own some exotica at least a couple of times in their bike life. I feel i've ticked many of the exotica wants, but an MV Agusta, not yet... I'm still a little gutted Mrs Weeksy didn't buy the race bike a few weeks ago. However it did go a chunk above where we wanted to be in terms of price.
