When you said Banksian...I read as Banksy...much funnier when you realise it's Iain M.......
On the subject of annchors (not that they would like it where it's parked) there is a method for pulling yourself off (ooer missus!) a bank by towing you anchors aft and hooking them in, then winching them back in.
Didn't work for me on the Haarlemermeer.

At that size, those things aren’t as strong as they look when beached. It could conceivably break up if they don’t hurry up.
But I doubt if there is any part of that ship strong enough to drag it off a sandbank, let alone wedged between two points.
They should offload it ASAP. It ain’t goin’ nowhere.

Well, you're half right. They've got the blunt end* free but the pointy end* is still stuck.

I suspect the Hood had a hand in this!
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

All free and floating under own power. The Suez is open for business again.

If you're not sure who to blame...
The ship is Panamanian, the owners are Japanese, the technical managers are German, the charter is Taiwanese, the captain and the crew are Indian and the cargo is from China

And I expect most of the contracts will be subject to English law. In 2 or 3 years time when they all go to court for compensation a QC or two will be getting rich.Trinity765 wrote: Mon Mar 29, 2021 3:41 pm If you're not sure who to blame...

Evergreen are a Chinese company, they'll tell anyone who tries to sue them to fuck off and they'll get away with it.
And as for the comment about it breaking up because it's beached, that's laughable, the containers don't form part of the structural strength of the ship, it can sail empty.
