Chain cleaning when washing the bike
What do you do?
I don't like cleaning the chain, and then washing the bike, as I worry I am washing the lube off the chain. But I equally don't like washing the bike, and then doing the chain, as its difficult not to get the rear wheel and swingarm dirty again.
But I usually go with the latter. What's your process?

I scrub the chain and sprockets with paraffin to loosen all the grime (also good for removing tar spots from exhausts). Rinse with the hose then wash the whole bike.
As soon as it's dry the chain gets re-lubed first, then the rest of the bike gets polished/Moto Protected.

If you aren't using that aerosol sticky-shit lube it makes cleaning a lot easier and less messy.
Chainsaw oil works well for me for lube and paraffin for cleaning. Much the same as Doc.

I use gear oil. Any spatter just wipes off again.Skub wrote: Sun Aug 08, 2021 2:46 pm If you aren't using that aerosol sticky-shit lube it makes cleaning a lot easier and less messy.

Old fashioned EP90 is what the race team lads all use and I have on the ones in the garage.
Wipe off any excess and ride it.

Clean the bike, then clean the chain with chain cleaner, brush and wipes. After that lube the chain on the inside run followed by a quick wipe of the rear wheel after a spin round in case it flicks off onto the wheel
