Soz. Glad she's doing ok.
She has now  We never fed her anything since this was noticed at about 4pm yesterday. When i got back from the vet this morning she demolished a bowl of food in seconds.

So today she goes off to get some tyres fitted to one of the cars - every time almost without exception fecking tyre fitters try to rip her off.

Last time some 18yo yoof told her the car was unfit to drive (it had passed its MOT / CT literally days earlier). "It's a deathtrap" he said. I went back with her and he couldn't point out anything that was at fault. It was so hilarious I laughed. No apology. For context that is about 5 years ago now, the deathtrap is still going.

I dunno why the industry is so full of fools and swindlers, but I do know they wouldn't try it on with me, so they're definitely cowardly misogynists as well as d!ckheads. There must be a market for tyre-fitters & garages run by women wha reasonably matureere the customers wouldn't have to suffer all this nonsense.
Noticed this sort of misogynist dickhead before when daughter started driving. Best one was a few years back when she was buying a new car, wanted me to come along and drive it too before she committed. Her car, she was paying, and she was a reasonably mature woman by then, but the salesman ignored her and spoke only to me. So she metaphorically ripped him a new arsehole! He won't make that mistake again!

An Addendum to the earlier post. viewtopic.php?p=400693#p400693

Finance deal e-mailed that I needed to complete. Fails
Ring dealer, resets it and resends. Fails
Go into dealer, we try to sort this video based electronic agreement on his screen. Fails, 3 times.
Sign forms, off for back office to sort.
Go back to pick up new car. Finance NOT sorted!
Re-sign new forms, off to back office again for sorting ASAP.
Failed YET AGAIN, new forms and some sort of emergency process for PDQ finance.
And finally, I drive away in shiny new Toyota Yaris Cross. And fire off a snotogram to Toyota Finance!

If you really want a Toyota I can thoroughly recommend giving the finace deal the heave ho. The deal was sweet, but the buggeration is extreme.

Did my daily Wordle today.

Got down to the last guess. _ unky. The only sensible word I could think of was junky.

The answer…gunky!! I mean come on!

A decent person would talk to both of you and make a point of looking at both of you, whether a salesman, neighbour or friend. 👍

LOL. That reminded me about buying my Skoda.

I asked my then OH to come with me to look at it and to let the sales people know that I wasn't a single female to be stitched up (luckily he was local to the area of the garage and also French and quite imposing character wise!).

He looked over the car and agreed with me that it was ok.

We talked to the sales and finance guys because I wanted a warranty and to get it they wanted me to take a minimum of 5k finance - I didn't want that much on finance. He started talking to them and they went away and had a look and came back to say I could get the warranty with 3k finance    not sure why they couldn't do that when I asked !!!

Then we sat down to do the paperwork, the finance guy (admittedly hadn't met me before that day but the sales person had been talking to me and all had been talking about "my" purchase and finance!!) - anyway, he sat down, looked at exOH and said, "so, you live in La Plagne then?" To which he replied, basically, "god no, that's where she lives and she's buying the car, not me" - he was aces cos the finance guy gulped and apologised and started talking to me direct!

My issue over here is that I still don't feel comfortable having a go at someone in French - they may well get the tone etc, but if I use the wrong word or pronounciation, then it all falls down   (of course, now I have similar in English cos I regularly forget english words    )

But hey, roll on the day I can :banana-dance: :banana-dance:

Skoda bonnet catches.

Resurrecting my old Fabia. The bonnet is opened via a cable, which of course, after a year, is quite stiff. Unfortunately the cable is pulled not by a proper lever, but by a silly bit of plastic that snaps off at the first bit of pressure put on it. Luckily mole grips saved the day but the only alternative is to replace with another bit of shite plastic.

My 106 lay for years and the bonnet popped open first time. Is it too much to ask that a much more expensive motor would have better build quality than a 24 yo Peugeot?

People (my sil) who use your stuff and just lob it back in the garage and shed. Muggins Magee then has to sort it out. I have to swallow it, else I risk upsetting my daughter. :angry-cussingblack:

I don’t know how to describe this person other than cuddywuddly

I’m sat in my bus in shared parking at GVA waiting to get the called to pick up guests.

A group of people walk up to then past my bus. The first one carrying skis which smacked into a low wing mirror

He didn’t say anything so I yelled out « hey ».

The guy hadn’t slowed his step of even looked over his shoulder but called out « sorry »

This did seriously piss me off. Surely if you knock skis into someone’s vehicle you check things are ok and apologise like an adult not like a naughty kid whilst running away??

I know that part of it was he won’t have wanted to deal with a French person, but if he’d done that to any French colleagues he’d have had more to deal with them me walking over and saying - you didn’t think to check damage and actually apologise ?

« I said sorry »

Yeah, over your shoulder with no slowing down. Not really an apology

« Well, is there any damage »

No, but at the minimum professional courtesy should expect that you at least pretend to be bothered and apologetic, no?

He basically just ignored me and started loading the luggage. I did say, just because you didn’t expect me to be english doesn’t excuse your lack of politeness etc before I walked away

Surely I’m not wrong - if you hit a vehicle with a pair of skis yr carrying and know the driver has seen you, the least you’d do is check for damage and apologise face to face, not run away like a kid and so wind up said driver??
