The first time I saw two yards dumped on my drive I decided the log burner was for special occasions only.Silly Car wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 1:18 pm Log day here, 2 cubic yards of seasoned hardwood delivered roadside to top up the log store. It’s too bloody warm to be shifting that lot to the other end of the garden and then stacking it all, but it’s done now.
I’m hoping 3 cube will be enough for the winter, but who knows…![]()

Loud feminine scream from the pool
I poke my head out to have a look.
There's a snake in the pool!
Ok, it's about 6-8" long, but, definitely a snake.
Guess we'll be moving soon then!

We had similar.
She: "There's a snake in the house!"
Me: "Where?"
She: "Over there!"
Me: "Looks like a worm". <Fetches glasses>. "Oh yeah it's a snake".
I've seen decent size ones in the countryside but they seem to leave our house and garden well enough alone, and we don't have a pol for them to fall in.

We had a snake in the house a while ago, only a little one. We think it arrived in the trouser turn-ups of a gardener/landscaper that we'd got round to quote for some work! (Baby adder I think). Saw another outside the kitchen door recently. Best thing though is we have 'slowies'DefTrap wrote: Fri Aug 26, 2022 10:47 amWe had similar.

'So if you could just pop the plant pot onto the decking'
She said casually.
'so it's not staying in the garden then?' I ask, imploringly. There's 160l of compost and whatever was on the tree roots in there!

However the wildlife premium is about 100%, so swings and roundabouts Rodney, swings and roundabouts.

Sitting in our slightly leaky conservatory watching nature put on a great light and sound display.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."
