Need some workshop equipment recommendations - jack and trolley
The jack and trolley - sounds like a pub I should open.
Anyway, we have lived in a house with a gravel drive, which I'm finding a bit of a pain in the arse, to be honest. It's not deep gravel, and resurfacing isn't an option.
Firstly, I have a 3-ton trolley jack that's made of steel and weighs about 45kg. It was fine when dragging it across concrete, but if you drag it over gravel, it brings most of it with it, so I end up carrying it. I don't want to do this any more, so does anyone have any recommendations that have either got bigger wheels for gravel or simply lighter? It has to have a 3-ton capacity for use on my Range Rover.
Secondly, I want a trolley that I can put the tools I need on it and wheel it to and from the garage rather than carry them all out one by one. It also needs big wheels that can easily cope with gravel. I don't want one of those festival trolleys, they're just too big. I was thinking of adapting a sack truck, but it might not be stable enough.
Thanks.

Yes it's pain in the arse that it can't be dragged over the gravel, yes it's heavy but I just pick it up and carry it to where it's needed, but in an ideal world I'd sooner have one of these;

That's 10kg lighter than my sgs which would be a pretty big improvement.MrLongbeard wrote: Tue May 05, 2026 11:43 am Ahh the holy grail of trolley jacks, I too have a gravel driveway and use this https://www.halfords.com/tools/garage-w ... MsPSJRKicd

Sack barrow with a plastic box cable tied to it for tools? I have a fairly lightweight machine mart trolley jack which is light enough for even me to carry it but probably only the length of the garage.
