CNC Routers - talk to me

Post by go_slow »

Been on my wish list for a while and am starting to seriously look - anyone got any advice or tips?

I'm looking for a bed size of 1000x800, that should give the scope to do the projects I want, also build my own kitchen (I know I could do that with standard hand tools but that's awfully time consuming).

Thanks.

I have become quite adept with FDM/3d printing and the typical stumbling block when troubleshooting/setting up is operating system and software compatibility issues. I would probably start from the creative side and the OS/software I was comfortable with using and see if that might point towards a particular OEM solution, assuming you're not too keen on building something from scratch!
Yeah, most of the front end 3D movement control is done using Mach 3 or Mach 4 so I'm okay with that. Not so familiar with how you create the file with the tool path in, that definitely needs more investigation.
