Re: New build houses, yeah or nah?

We bought a new build back in 1999, it was on a small, select development and well specced. Completion was late and we eventually moved in on Christmas Eve as the carpet fitters were moving out. On Christmas Day the main loo blocked and we had to call an emergency plumber, who found the overflow ...

Re: I despair for current/future generations

In ye olde days women knew their place and it was at home. They catered, cleaned and brought up the kids while dad went off to work (to a job that paid enough for the whole family to live on). Today it's a fair bet that parents will either be single or both working. They will come home tired after ...

Re: Eire

Late to the party ;) Well I guess you've seen signs for the Wild Atlantic Way on your travels. I did the whole length of it a couple of years ago. Doing it on a bike was ideal because some of the little coast roads are, er, little. You don't realise how long a coastline Ireland has until you start ...

The commentators even referred to it as a go-kart track. Spot on IMHO.

Jake has winning speed on his day, but never seems consistent enough to turn that into championships. Time to stop chasing the dream and chase the money I guess.

Re: Electronics And Traction Control Don't Make You Faster

Didn't Pedrobot cash a few years back because the rear wheel speed sensor had a broken cable, he was expecting the TC to kick in when he gave it a load of gas and it didn't, flicking him at the scenery?

I was thinking that exact thing. But maybe people think Dani was a slow rider who needed the ...

Near us is the outlet for a French drain at the bottom of a sloping field. The outlet pipe is just above a street drain so you'd hope the stream of drained water would just go down there, but unfortunately the drain isn't right at the side of the road so the water flows past it and creates a giant ...

Re: Austrian MotoGP

Moto3 was great. Moto2 less so, surprisingly this class seems to deliver very few good races. And I enjoyed the MotoGP. A MM victory doesn't come as a surprise but Bez gave him a run for his money and there was a proper hot dice for 3rd. Marc has certainly got his mojo back, though it must be a bit ...

Re: Time for a change

The "right" bike (assuming you only have one) is the one that suits your preferred style of riding. I've gone from sports bikes to dirt bikes and now adventure travel. If I decide long distance travel is becoming less important to me I'll buy something more pure street orientated. I'll never stop ...

When prices come down and charging infrastructure improves, I'd consider it. Today, not really. Too much humblebrag, not enough workhorse.

Re: Ozempic and suchlike...know anybody on 'em?

I looked at it. For me it could be the right one because the problem I have with diets is quite simply that I get hungry. But I didn't feel I could justify £140 a month. If the price ever comes down I'll look at it again. Encouraged that a pill version is apparently in the pipeline.

Re: Six days in Ireland.

Nice story! I did the WAW a couple of years ago, and then carried on round the North and back down to Dublin and the ferry at Rosslare. You don't realise what a long coastline Ireland has until you take into account all the little peninsulas out west. Took me nearly 2 weeks IIRC, and it rained ...
