What I do now………

Post by wull »

These vids show part of what I do now and this is probably the best money maker, sharpening of the cutting units, the reels and bottom blades.

Well tbh the best money maker is when the cutting units are gubbed and needing a lot of work. The time you can spend on them makes good money but it’s a pain in the arse. I much prefer it when they come in for a sharpen and that’s all they need, you sharpen them, set them up, grease them and send them on their way.

It’s not been easy sailing tbh, I am better off than before but I don’t think I’ll see the benefits until the owner of BRF retires, it’ll be interesting then, not entirely sure what’s going to happen but hopefully it’ll be all good.

Wish I understood the question, let alone be able to proffer counsel.

Just as a suggestion, would this sort of thread be better served in the 'Shed...' forum?

This one was a pain in the arse.

Kubota GR2120 in for a leaking transmission which was leaking from 3 separate output shaft seals, sadly only one of them you could without stripping the full transmission down so it was remove strip down replace seals + one bearing that had slight play then rebuild. Took a fair bit of time.

Was there one component on the bench after you'd put it back together? :D

Never heard that. Why 'Exeter'?

I don't remember most of them, but the Exeter I do remember because I've experienced the situation, and I did Engineering at Exeter Uni. :D

Thankfully no but there has been a couple of instances where I’ve finished a job and there’s this one important looking bolt leftover 👀

Happened me recently with the Zed. For a naked bike it still has an annoying amount of fiddly plastic. So all fitted back together, then I spot a bolt from the airbox still in the tray...

Probably wouldn't have made any difference, but off it all had to come again. :(

We get a lot of lawn tractors in for work, everyone seems to not bother during the winter months then all of a sudden can you do this and do it now. Typical, the majority of them require transmission belts then we’re having to wait for parts, all you get is “the grass is growing” 🤦‍♂️

This one was my mates, pic before collection and the other two after it was ready to go. It got a full service, two new tyres, new transmission belt and deck belt. He had complained that there was no drive but that was because the bypass valve was open which they hadn’t realised, someone must have pulled the dump valve and left it like that. Touch up paint etc.
