Sunny wrote: Thu May 08, 2025 3:02 pm For some reason I have no meetings this afternoon 😱. So I extended my lunch hour, wandered outside, and changed the mower belt - which annoyingly involves unbolting a couple of bits.

The previous belt was missing a significant chunk after t'other half last used it - the conversation last weekend when I started it went as follows:
Me: 'could you not hear the weird noise?'
Him: 'what weird noise?'
🤦‍♀️

He has a knack for popping the belt off on a regular basis, but goodness knows how he managed to knacker it so badly. Ho hum. On the plus side, he does at least do the mowing sometimes 😆

Quickish job, so now I'm back to driving my desk for the rest of the day. Rewriting done of our website blurb, the joy.

Your other half sounds like he needs a needs a punch in the nads.

Obviously, we would need photographic proof

Today, I’ve been to York on the lash and drunk many beers.

Got back home and sensibly went to local favourite Italian restaurant, ate and drunk like a king. Thoroughly good night as staff recognised me and spoiled me somewhat.

Now home, drinking port and struggling to type..

Oh, and I may have agreed to go on a diving holiday to Egypt with a mate next month… :D

I’ve extensively dived and guided on most of Ras Muhammed, Ras um Sid and many of the wrecks, both recreational (less than 30m) and tech dives (sub 30m) in the Red Sea and never had a problem with sharks. In fact, my “worst” experience was around 10m on Ras Um Sid when a “friendly” Napoleon wrass rocked up (completely unexpected) whilst guiding/teaching my 12 year old daughter who promptly bolted for the surface.

BTW I am a PADI Staff intructor, deep dive specialist, tech trimix diver (120+m) and have played with the best deep dive dive specialists in the western hemisphere, most of which are friends.

Archery competition using the grounds of the local private school.

Shot rubbish as usual. Me and competitions just don’t get on.

Yes, different club and site tho.

We’re lucky enough to get the use of this field a couple of times a year for competitions in return for a few hours teaching some of the kids archery.

It’s quite tricky trying to get somewhere to shoot if you don’t own land, which most clubs don’t. We’ve got a couple of school halls where we shoot during winter and a school playing field that we use the rest of the year.

Archery clubs are extremely careful about picking up after themselves, every single arrow is counted out and in again, and there'll be multiple metal detectors on site to find any that hide in the grass. Archery clubs are well aware that they'll lose access to that land instantly if there's any problems so they're very serious about not causing any issues.

We used to have an archery variant called 'clouts' which is longer distance and the target is concentric rings drawn on the ground, with a flag or tilted disc in the middle. I think it was supposed to be more like lobbing arrows into the French, á la Agincourt.

(Looks like it's still a thing....

Confirmed new job - starting at 14h30 today!! Apparently with an instructor the first few times :bblonde: :bblonde: That was the support massively missing in the last job so I'm glad these guys have listened :D

So, just grabbing a quick lunch then heading back down to work :D :D :D

Unfortunately the name change has thrown up another issue to solve  - the health "site" thingy has my correct first name but deep in the system it has my previous name FFS Here's hoping it won't cause issues (it does have the correct social security number on it, so, cross fingers !!

So this afternoon was learning a couple of routes - school routes and one of them is the same (mostly) for the workers.

Haven't driven yet but the morning I'm starting early and driving a load of workers from the valley to resort! First time driving a bigger vehicle since end March/beginning of April !!!

But damn, everyone was so helpful and kind. The managers seem perfectly happy to be asked questions. The other drivers said ask any time I'm unsure.

Feeling better about going back to work now - will be nice to work without the stress of maybe getting shouted out/treated like I'm stupid if I ask a question !! (I'm really not as daft as I sound !!)

Roll on tomorrow :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

Gassed up the F350, $123.00 for 26.175gal. (dieseled up?), added 8oz of HotShot's Diesel Extreme tiger piss to each tank as it's been 15 months since I did it when I first bought the truck.
Each tank will get another 8oz next fill up & then it gets a new fuel filter when I go back to 1oz/tankful of the every day tiger piss instead of the Extreme
Got 13.29mpg compared to 12.72 last time, & I wasn't trying to be light footed, in fact there was a few miles of cruising at 85mph.

Pressure washed the front porch, installed a large plastic Hawk to scare off the birds that keep crapping on the porch....

Fuckers will probably crap on that too...

Opened the BBC to browse the news and saw my old school mate Wayne 'P Ness' Brown*. We were good mates, but sort of lost touch after I moved away. As soon as I saw his photo I knew it was him, then I read the headline.

Fire chief took own life after harassment - inquest

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvg784lxgq7o

RIP mate.

*I have no idea why that was this nickname, but aged 14 we thought it was hilarious.

Discovered that when someone says "You look so familiar" responding with, "Were we in prison together?" is a total a conversation stopper
