One does not simply walk into Mordor.

Me neither. (I let mine lapse as I got fed up telling my Institute that I was still retired every bloody year - in order to get the reduced membership rate).Mr. Dazzle wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 2:45 pm I'm planning on doing my Fellowship some point soon. Still not signed anyone's passport photo![]()

I have let my professional memberships lapse since retiring. Some were bloody expensive and frankly of little use at this time of life. Happy to be Mr Not of any consequence.Count Steer wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 4:31 pmMe neither. You should worry. There are 42 million kangaroos in Australia and only 3 million people in Jamaica. Which means if the kangaroos were to invade Jamaica, each person would have to fight 14 kangaroos!

Aimed for 1200m today. At 1150 I felt good, so rather than sprint the last 50m I did the whole mile. 1610mYorick wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 4:20 pm1000m today, non stopYorick wrote: Wed Jul 02, 2025 4:53 pm Swam 800m. Chuffed to bits![]()
Getting fit for Portimao
At 950 I had a bit in the tank so sprinted the last 50 hard. I like to finish exhausted.
It worked![]()
Wasn't really breathing hard at the end.
Now gonna buy a stopwatch so I can push the mile harder each time
I'm really quite chuffed with my fitness.
Walk 7 miles every day according to my app on phone
Cycle 8 mile route twice a week.
2 long enduro rides a week.
Happy boy here
Now gonna walk into town for a few cold ones. The missus flew to uk today and it's traditional that I have a naughty afternoon at the bar

Re: What have you done today thread?
New route today. Far far too many 180's and hairpins (or hairpin like access and exit) for my arm. Had planned to talk to the planner tomorrow morning as I was sure he wouldn't put me back on the same route, even though it does use 'my' bus.
Sadly, he's put me on the same route tomorrow - FFS
First time they've done something like that and probably cos I did a little cheer at driving 'my' bus again - but seriously, they Know how many turns etc etc and know I had issues on a half day on with lots of breaks !! this is a whole day (12 hours) with two 1 hour breaks and one almost 3 hour break - but the long breaks don't make up for the amount of constant twisty turny

Anyway - just for fun - they are doing some road works on the 'main' road up, luckily I only have to go up/down this 3 times in the day !! They've basically cut away half the road to restructure the underneath (and possibly widen it)
Not a lot of room even for a baby bus like 'mine' !!!

Wouldn't be quite so bad if this bit of road was straight and with a verge - it's not !!! Some lorries have been up and down too - some of the tall thin cone things have been knocked down
(not by me !!)

Been smashing holes in super tough concrete for metal poles up at the donkey sanctuary where Penny helps out.
Even with big SDS drill they take an hour each.
Did 2 and my arms and wrists were screaming at me to stop.
7 down and 3 to go.

About 20 miles down the road I decided to stop for diesel. They said email us a proof of tax and they'll send soemone out. So i had to ring my son to go to our house where the documents are, and to tax it online which he did. Meanwhile my daughter rang us and I told her what was happening. My son-in-law said have you got jump leads, which we did, so he came out and got us going.Just been out to the camper and tried it and it span over like a good un!

Re: What have you done today thread?
I sent an email yesterday to work asking to finish early tomorrow as needed to see the physio after that route yetserday.
Got into work and the planning manager talked to me and said thursday is fine, I need you to do the first bit of the navette on the shit route, then I'll swap you for other stuff that doesn't include a million demi-tours
So, did almost two hours on the shit route, came back, brief pause (during which the bus for the next route was changed twice!) then took another 10m bus to go back in the same direction but no demi-tours !! Except there'd been a cycling accident just at the bottom of the road I needed to take and the gendarme said the road would be closed for a minimum of 30 mins.
Luckily I had headed out a bit early so, back to the depot, other planning guy said "there's a little lane that runs up the side of the depot, would that miss the accident ?" We had to check googlemaps cos I had no idea there was a lane there, but it did miss the accident, but too small for a bus !! So I swapped for a sprinter and another guy got a minibus and off we went
Back to the depot to swap for a bigger bus and off to get a load of kids to go to a pool/waterpark type of place. Two hour wait for them, but it was rather lovely, under some trees by a river.
Then up to my resort to get a group of workers to bring them back down. This was interesting as I've rarely done that route in a 12.5m and people really do not get just how much space you need on hairpins
Hey ho, didn't hit anyone

Re: What have you done today thread?
I had the usual Wednesday Eucharist at my smaller church. Then off to the cathedral to take part in the Leavers Year Six Service for our local education trust. Was a nice service, albeit some caterwauling that was supposedly singing by a local talent. Prayed the Blessing for them. Then in the car to collect my little girl from the clinic and back home. Rather tired at the moment. Did my tax return thingy online for the CofE system, so HMRC can work out how much more money to take away from me. They clawed back a further £3k from my wife, and she is paying what she is supposed to through PAYE, so it is doubly annoying!
