A lad in the garage where I work sometimes had something similar. There's an old lady in a village that makes a habit of reporting people.
I suggested he look into sueing her for making false accusations unless she can prove that her speed camera is calibrated and she's been fully trained. Then also, report her to the police for wasting police time.

The same lady that does this, she bought a house opposite a pub and then forced the pub to tint their windows because people could see from the pub into her house!

I've barely set foot across the border since they came in, used to dip in and out every weekend.

I would guess they deliberately make the NSL "changeover" quite a long way out from towns because they know everyone starts speeding up as soon as they can see the sign, not when they actually reach it.

We've all done 80+++ on our bikes on 60s and felt very safe, yep junctions need care but generally we're happy.

We have regular surface streets* here in town with 60 limits, most of the main drags are 50 or 55. There's a few 45's & residential is 25.

*Not the freeway.

Maybe, but I'm always dubious about the supposed ability of everyone to ride at speed safely and be aware of all the things necessary for that whilst simultaneously being unable to spot the bright yellow cameras/vans or red signs.

Doubly so with the 'my speed just crept up' line of argument, which always implies to me you're not aware of how fast you're going.

Yebut if you can't spot a gaggle of yellow waistcoat wearing pensioners with a hairdryer maybe you really do need an eyetest.

I've got a lot of sympathy for people not wanting cars or bikes speeding through where they live.

Bit of rumbling on our road's Whatsapp group, on whether we should ask for a 20 limit.

Filly wouldn't let me post the question: "Do you choose to travel at 20 where other people live?"

Why not? It seems a reasonable question, especially as my ill informed opinion is that those most likely to want cameras are also those most likely to get caught and then whine about it

It's 30 KPH speed limit in towns here.
It's a good thing as too many dopey tourists sightseeing as they go and not concentrating.
And lots of kids in holiday mode not concentrating.

Noticed quite a few French villages have a significant kink in the road as you approach. Just put there to slow things down. (That, and, once you get into the village, ped crossings at, what feels like, every 30 metres. If you arrive at many of them at certain times of day they appear completely deserted and you wonder why on earth they need so many ped crossings. ).

Can you imagine sitting on the side of a road pointing a camera at oncoming vehicles ?? you've got to be a bit of a sad twat surely.

Also, when our white bmw yobbo filled car sees you pointing at him, they may return cap and scarf clad, waving some big sticks. My advice, leave it to the authorities.

I don't live in a village, I live in the 'burbs, and even I get annoyed at people driving down my (20mph limit) street at 30-40mph. You know, that street which my daughter and her friends walk to school along.

I've wished in the past there was a way I could report some of these people to the police.

Much as i love riding noisy motorcycles, living right next to a popular bike road for several years did open my eyes (ears) to how anti-social some bike riders (and car drivers) can be. Especially early in the morning after a heavy night....

I don't begrudge anyone their perceived right to a peaceful life, I'd like one myself!

Similar - live on a B road with a 30mph limit but leads out to nice open bike roads, too many knobends that think limits don't apply.
We have the old duffers with the hi-vis and hairdryers through the village and I'm fully supportive of them, plod does seem to prosecute of the back of their reports too so can only assume all calibrated kit and trained users.

I've just completed an online survey from Thames Valley Police to say that I support them retaining the current "car cruising PSPO" which is in force in MK. Public Safety Protection Order...basically making it so the kids can't have fun in their noisy fartboxes

I wouldn't mind so much if those noisey 125s were actually a bit faster. Stupid loud hatchbacks and exhaustless 125s which crawl past at 11pm being ragged but getting nowhere.
