Dookie is a great album, all killed, no filler.
I'm sorry to say you have dropped a peg in my estimation.
Don't dis Nirvana, Faith No More or Stone Temple Pilots or you'll be dead to me.

I didn't know I had a peg to drop, so at least I wasn't at ground level before !!KungFooBob wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 2:12 pm Dookie is a great album, all killed, no filler.

TBF, I'm older than you and was a 50's chick or 80's pop music girl - I do like a fair bit in between but not a huge amount since the end of the 80's
But I can live with that

Re: What have you done today thread?
Busy day today...... and yesterday tbh!
Sorting a clutch/dmf out on a 5008 pug.
I can see why he was quoted £2000+ from the garage.
It would have been easier to drop everything off the chassis in one piece, split it, sort it and re-install.
Whilst I was waiting for the correct thermostat housing to turn up as well ' could you have a look at my quad, doesn't want to start!' Horrible spiteful thing that fought me all the way out
Funnily enough the carb was dry as a bone!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Came home today after our little Cornwall jaunt. Visited loads of places, drank cider, scoffed pasties and even had a cream tea.Was going to south Wales but after spending the last couple of days with family who were staying in Perranporth, we both felt a little deflated this morning, so came home instead. After being in a campervan for 11 days, my little house feels mahoosive!

I don't have the time to listen to you whine about nothing and eveything all at once.Noggin wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 2:09 pm I think I have lost a friend !! (probably not, but I think she's a bit horrified at me !! )
I messaged her on Monday to see if she wanted to go see a rockabilly band that evening and she said "right now I might be persuaded to go see Green Day but I'm not going out for anything else! "
I forgot to reply until today so said I was sorry about not replying but I had no idea who Green Day is or why she'd force herself out to see them. Finishing with - but I haven't listened radio for years and tend to pick what I like to listen to now so don't explore much !!
She said, blimey, they formed in '87 so you really haven't listened to the radio for years !! Lots of laughter between us so then I drove up to home listening to Green Day on Spotify
Unimpressed - who are they ? They sound like so many 90's bands I avoided (not the worst of the "the music is ok but the vocals make me want to slit my wrists" but not my thing at all!)
She also told me to listen to Basket Case - I thought it was a band![]()

Apparently it's a song by Green Day - another 90's sounding thing !! I just said, musics ok, not keen on the vocals - not joining you at a gig/concert !!!
She hasn't replied, so I think she has disowned me !! (I wasn't quite as harsh by text as I have been here !!)
I know - you lot will probably disown me too![]()

BTW if you think Green Day are just 90's noise - listen to the Drummer. He has no fucking business being in that bandNoggin wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 8:04 am I had to google to make sure I was right about what you were doing![]()

Re: What have you done today thread?
I actually don't think that, completely - well I probably did in the 90's !! But listening to it the other day I bloody love the drummer and actually the music.Mr. Dazzle wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 9:33 amBTW if you think Green Day are just 90's noise - listen to the Drummer. But as with a lot of 90's or 90's type music, the vocals sound flat.
No idea if they are, but whilst they aren't as depressing as some, back in the 90's I'd have just put them in the "music that makes me want to slit me wrists" pile and ignored them - which I guess I did successfully as none of the songs I've listened to so far do I recognise !!!!
TBF, the singer is probably just fine, and maybe it's the style or the way the songs are written?
A shame really but I'd 100% listen to the music without the vocals probably close to all day !! Add the vocals and it's a definite NO from me

Billie Joe Armstrong, one of Mrs. D's crushes and maybe the reason I know how to do eyeliner and mascara

Got my results from the recent visit to the vampires at the stab lab, we've ruled out a heart attack & EVERYTHING was in the green*... except glucose which was 191 because I'm off the Ozempic & I'd been eating.
*The results are laid out in color with red at each end & green in the middle, it's all rather spiffy.

Fitted a compressor fridge in step f-i-ls caravan. Nifty little thing and am interested to see how it works out.

Re: What have you done today thread?
In no particular order:
Moved furniture around, a lot
Ripped up carpet, underlay and gripper rod and deposited it at the tip
Made 2.7kg of pizza dough, prepped fennel sausage mix, grated and shredded cheese ready for tomorrow’s pizza event with the daughters.
Laundry and house work.
Uncovered a can of worms from the house that keeps on giving which means I’ll be spending some of tomorrow and Monday hacking out plaster and bonding coat, cutting back a timber frame that protrudes past the line of the plaster, studding out and plastering a 3m x 2m section of wall before pva-ing and skimming a 5m x 2.5m section of wall to straighten out the previous bodge job…
The good news is I’ve salvaged 7m of usable skirting board (used to frame the previously bodge up closure of an opening) and I won’t need to undercut the rest of the skirting boards as I’m removing them before laying the new flooring. Once refitted they’ll make the flooring a better job.
The bad news is none of the above helps in getting the flooring completed by next Sunday, I’ve created a whole load of decorating and I need to remove the remaining skirting boards.
