I'm not getting old, I am old. I decided many years ago that getting old was better than the alternative.

But this thread has reminded me of something that happened back when I was getting old. My son and I were in the car listening to some music on the wireless ;) when a rap song came on. I immediately hit the OFF button. Then I asked my son "Am I getting old?" He said "Yes." Then he continued "But you were right to switch it off, that music is crap."

I may be old, but I raised a music lover. :)

2 for steroids
2 for Ramipril

Less than 10€ the lot.

Was in chemist less than 2 minutes. As soon as keyed in on screen, they come down a chute.
You're over 60, why are you paying for prescriptions? Methinks your Spanish GP is El Grande Bandito! :D
I'm still private health. I can go for the Spanish system for free, but not as good.

The dentist recently prescribed me a 6 day course of antibiotics for a gum infection. Olde Worlde broad spectrum ones, nothing exotic. Took prescription to chemist. 'Oh that's a private prescription*, that'll be £60+ please'.

* On one of those dental insurance schemes rather than NHS.
I wouldn't expect that, does it mean prescriptions from a private GP don't cost the standard amount either? On the flip side if you are prescribed a cheap drug will it cost less than the standard charge?
The cynic in me thinks the customer will always get the most expensive option.
I assume if it's a non-NHS prescription you pay the full price. I'd guess that will always be more than the standard charge. The antibiotics I was prescribed should be on the cheaper end - they've been around a long time and are probably made in India. £60+ was a bit of a surprise for 24 tabs.

A pharmacist did once tell me to tear a prescription up though - because I could buy the stuff off the shelf for less than the prescription charge though. Why the Doc didn't tell me just to go and buy it I dunno.

(Just to confuse things I'm sure the first time the dentist prescribed something the pharmacist said 'No charge' but I think they got it wrong. It was a long time ago though).

I spent the latter half of yesterday and the earlier part of today fitting 6x 6ft fence panels (well one needed trimming down to 5ft). Pulling old rotten posts out and cutting/seating new ones.

I sat down about an hour ago and now I can't get back up without every joint screaming in pain.

I'm only 47.

I blame it on being under 15c outside.

You've warmed the pot, you bring the kettle to the boil, you pour the boiling water from the kettle into the teapot...

... then spot the tea bags sitting next to the teapot.

Silly old fool. :(

They get easier. Although, since I can see to read and wander around, I tend not to wear them as much as I maybe should (I just don't recognise people at a distance  ).

But as long as the distances are right they're great for driving (when the distances aren't right, I can't see the info on the dash  )

Good luck, stick with them for a bit longer xx

I thought with you being fussy about tea protocol n' schitt, you'd be using proper tea instead of council bags. :P

When you go into the garage.... stop ....ask yourself .... why have I come into the garage

However I can remember many details about the first motorbike I bought

1973. A green suzuki gt250. Reg TJX 933L. Brand new £399. Ram air cooling with a front disc brake. Bought from cable motors in Halifax, West Yorkshire .

The top box for my triumph trophy cost £400 😳

My first car was a mark 2 cortina . Reg LVO 610E. £120. Sold it 5 years later for £60

Many more tales but I won’t bore you all. Other than that ......these days I go to the garage and wonder why

It is proper tea. It's the same Assam tea they use for leaf tea, but in a handy, easy to use bag.

I thought the days when people believed tea bags contained the sweepings from the factory floor were long gone. :P

I found I was constantly moving my head up and down to find the right bit that was in focus.

However, multifocal contact lenses just work. (One lens for distance and one for near also works for many people.)

I've been rocking varifocals for about 6 years now, they are great!
I've just upgraded to another even smarter set just for PC / desk use - only work between my keyboard and about 2m away but even in perfect clarity with no brain aches!
