Where to buy specific bolts?

Anyone know a good source of bolts where I can search specific attributes like the length of the shank (unthreaded length).

So far I've found lots of sources but none that give a great deal of detail about what you're buying.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

TBH, I'm looking for a 1/4" BSC (Cycle)* threaded bolt, 1 1/4" length with the shank length of around 7/8" (the shank length is the important bit). If necessary I'm happy to cut down the threaded portion of a longer bolt. (none of the suppliers above seem to stock BSC/Cycle - not really a surprise, I know it's an antiquated threadform)

For reference - I need a couple of these for the smaller engine case bolts that hold the JAP engine cases together. For some reason the 2 bolts I have are "set-screws" (threaded the full length), which means that the cases aren't held in proper alignment if those are the only 2 bolts in place (eg when installing the motor into the engine plates).

I think I've found a source (Speedway spares do seem to sell one, see "Chances clamping bolt front and rear" here : https://www.speedwayserviceltd.co.uk/jap-parts-2 , I need to confirm their pricing), but was hoping to find a supplier for long-term sourcing.

* Because that's what's there and I'm "trying" to balance original with useable/findable at the moment: If I need to use BSF I'll do that, but definitely avoiding metric where possible (for originality)

I didn't realise you wanted Cycle threads. Try Middleton (https://www.stainlessmiddleton.co.uk/32 ... -setscrews) who like Nooky's supply 1/4" BSF as Cycle. Good enough but not for the purist. He has a 1/4 BSF x 1.1/14 listed. Molnar is another possibility: https://www.manx.co.uk/products/stainless.html

I usually make studs in the lathe to replace bolts as I can ensure the thread length etc is exactly what I want.

The problem I have is that the online information never tells you how long the shank is, and I'd rather not order 50 frigging different bolts just to find the "one" that has a long enough shank.

I may well be reduced to buying the longest things I can find and spinning the die down 'em. (at least I have a die now! )
