You will have seen the news pictures of the South West.

Went out today on 4 wheels, 1 blocked road, 3 'fords' with water from hedge to hedge, just passable on the crown of the road at <10mph, 20 or more places where a stream an inch or two deep was flowing across the road, inumerable deep puddles on the side of the road. Lots of general shit, broken wood, gravel, mud, etc.

Bike was NOT taken out, I am considering trading it in for a boat.

Now waiting for Thursday. ANOTHER yellow warning for heavy rain, all the ground is saturated and even a modest extra dose will cause more flooding.

They were reporting from Dawlish this morning, it was getting rough then and still 2 hours before high tide. I bet that train track ain't holding up too well. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Think it is working now but the last little episode had
  • a train taken out of service with smashed windows
the line shut an bus seevice from Plymouth to Tiverton Parkway
part of the original sea wal broken and the debris strewn on the track
The next issue is the red cliffs. Unstable sandstone, saturated in water, heavy rain. What could go wrong?

We asked the kids where they fancied going for a few days in the April half term. Back to Torquay it seems. Was booking the hotel whilst watching TV footage of most of the SW flooded

Storm Chandra, cleared off overnight & this morning was a lovely,Sunny, chilly winter's day.I was wary of black ice so went for a 10 KM walk in the sunshine.
This afternoon, according to my app it got up to +6,still sunny & the roads were drying out so I took the 650X for it's first ride since NYE.

I'd have been out today myself as the storm washed the roads nicely, but the kindly council slarried a load of salt early this morning despite it being a mild night. Can't win em all.

Sorry to see the damage Skub, replace or repair?
Blowing a gale around here,I nipped out in the car to the local Tesco's,it must be Bin day in Southport,I've never seen so many wheelie bins blown over, dozens of them at least it was daylight so you could see them!
If the wind & rain stops I'll hopefully get out on the bike this Saturday..

Aye,most of it should dicky up ok. I'll see how the tidy up goes on the cdi casing and if I'm not happy I'll get it and the clutch casing sprayed together.
